Selling pop up displays, modular exhibits and portable marketing tools keeps everyone at ExhibitTrader.com hopping.  The last two weeks have seen everyone go above and beyond the call of duty.  With our COO traveling to California for a revolutionary (and thankfully, successful) back surgery procedure and his spouse-also our senior display consultant- accompanying him, it was great to see other employees step up to the plate to keep things running smoothly.

In addition to writing and other company duties, assisting with fourth grade homework also confronted me.  A reading comprehension assignment presented the students with the challenge of deciphering deceptive marketing.  Okay, it was about misleading information on a cereal box and not on pop up displays, but it was relative all the same. A multiple choice question asked which-if any-of the following statements was false about advertising art:

1) Provides eye-catching pictures.
2) Gives information about the product in brief.
3) Uses bold print colors for product/company name.
4) Provides accurate representation of the product/company.
5) Always displays factual information.

False and factual are not synonymous so it must be number five (5)-right?  I found this very coincidental, owing to the fact we regularly explain to clients that answer choices 1-4 are important to keep in mind when designing graphic art work for pop-up displays-or any other type of exhibit. Though we endeavor to put number five (5) in practice to the best of our ability, we let conscience dictate such for others.

So be forewarned marketing executives and graphic designers:  there is a force out there educating our youth on advertising tactics.  While the 16 and under crowd may not be your target audience today; they will be tomorrow.  Since they will be armed with a degree in analytical marketing by then- and will probably not be appeased by a prize found inside the box- best be on your toes.  Pop up displays can help you dance through skeptical eyes-young and old.  Whether you choose to tap around them; confront them with a quick step; or waltz with them, Exhibittrader.com can help improve your technique.
